Peer Review Process
Jurnal Terapan Ekowisata dan Hospitalitas (JTEH) applies a double-blind peer review system as the primary mechanism to maintain scientific quality, objectivity, and publication integrity. In this system, authors’ identities are concealed from reviewers, and reviewers’ identities are not disclosed to authors. This approach ensures that manuscripts are evaluated solely based on academic merit, relevance, and scientific contribution.
All manuscripts submitted through the Online Journal System (OJS) undergo an initial screening by the editors. This stage includes an assessment of alignment with the journal’s focus and scope, compliance with author guidelines, completeness of metadata, and plagiarism screening. Manuscripts that do not meet basic requirements or fall outside the journal’s scope may be returned to authors without proceeding to peer review.
Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are assigned to at least two independent reviewers with appropriate expertise relevant to the research topic. Reviewers are selected based on their academic track record, subject expertise, and the absence of conflicts of interest with the authors or affiliated institutions. Reviewers are expected to provide objective, constructive, and well-argued evaluations.
Reviewers assess several key aspects, including originality and novelty, clarity of research problems and objectives, methodological rigor, data validity and reliability, depth of analysis and discussion, theoretical and practical contributions, as well as presentation quality and adherence to research ethics. Reviewers also provide publication recommendations and specific suggestions to help authors improve manuscript quality.
Based on reviewers’ evaluations, the editor may decide that the manuscript is accepted without revision, accepted with minor revisions, requires major revisions, or is rejected. During the revision process, authors must respond systematically to all reviewer comments and submit a revised manuscript within the specified timeframe. In cases of major revisions, the manuscript may be sent back to reviewers for further assessment before a final decision is made.
The final decision regarding manuscript acceptance or rejection rests with the Editor in Chief, taking into account reviewers’ recommendations and editorial discussions when necessary. All review processes are conducted confidentially and professionally to maintain journal credibility and protect the interests of all parties involved.
If significant errors, ethical violations, or substantial scientific inconsistencies are identified after publication, the journal reserves the right to take corrective actions, including issuing clarifications, corrections (corrigendum), or article retractions (retraction) in accordance with its publication ethics policy.
Through this rigorous and transparent peer review mechanism, JTEH is committed to ensuring that every published article meets high academic standards and contributes meaningfully to the advancement of applied knowledge in ecotourism and hospitality.
